Superintendent's Welcome Message
On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to welcome you to the Claremont Unified School District (CUSD) website.
At CUSD, each student is equipped academically, prepared socially, and empowered to participate and thrive in a challenging, diverse world. Located in Southern California approximately 30 miles east of Los Angeles, CUSD serves the residents of Claremont and a portion of Pomona. The first classroom opened with 68 students in 1890, and currently, the district educates approximately 6,600 students at 10 award-winning TK-12 public schools.
Today, CUSD has a richly deserved reputation for providing outstanding educational opportunities for all students. This has not come about by chance, but rather through a commitment to academic achievement, enrichment activities, effective instruction and leadership, optimized resources, well-maintained facilities, and an engaged community.
As Superintendent, I am responsible for overseeing all district divisions, departments, and operations. This includes supporting the success of all students and working as the Secretary to the Board of Education to ensure CUSD remains focused on our mission, vision, and strategic goals. I trust that our website will provide you with the information you need to become familiar with our schools and organization. You are also invited to contact me, the Board of Education, or district leadership about any matter that you wish to discuss. We can each be reached at (909) 398-0691.
Thank you for your support of our school district.
