The Homework Hotline provides free, over-the-phone tutoring in math and science for students in grades 4–12. Tutors are highly qualified Harvey Mudd students selected for their technical expertise and communication skills. All complete ongoing tutor training.
Math and science tutoring is also available in Spanish (Sunday-Tuesday nights), Mandarin (Monday and Tuesday), and Tagalog (Monday evenings).
You can reach a tutor by calling 1.877.827.5462 Sunday through Thursday, 6–9 p.m. PST.

ELA/ELD Framework
The 2014 ELA/ELD Framework has been developed to support and incorporate the California State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy) and the California English Language Development Standards (CA ELD Standards). The SBE (California State Board of Education) adopted the ELA/ELD Framework on July 9, 2014
Advisory Committees
The Claremont Unified School District strongly supports the involvement of all parents, including those parents of English Learners, in the educational process of their children. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s school sites’ English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Each participating school site holds a minimum of two general sessions per school year. This functioning body advises the school site on programs and services for English Language Learners. By participating on your child’s school sites’ ELAC, you have the opportunity to serve as a committee member of our District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). This district level committee consists of parents, teachers, administrators, and district personnel who are interested in becoming knowledgeable about and more involved with the English Learner program.
ELD Standards
The CA ELD Standards are designed to increase to the language knowledge, skills, and abilities that are important for English Learners to be successful in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, as well as other subjects while developing English proficiency. English Learners must also have full access to high quality content while they are moving through the ELD continuum.
The CA ELD Standards are intended to support these goals by providing fewer, clearer, and higher standards, as explained below:
- Fewer – standards which are necessary and essential for development and success;
- Clearer –standards that have clear links to curriculum and assessments; and
- Higher – standards that align with the rigor of the California State Standards for ELA/Literacy, mathematics, as well as the Next Generation Science Standards, and history/social studies standards.

California School Dashboard - Our New Accountability System
The California School Dashboard, is the new accountability and continuous improvement system for our state. It is based on a five-by-five colored table that produces 25 results using five colors. The reports display the schools' (by district) and student groups' placement on the five-by-five colored tables.

- California School Dashboard video provides an overview of California's new multiple measures accountability system. It describes the measures in the new Dashboard Report and how performance and improvement are used to determine the performance colors.

District English Learner Advisory Committee
The purpose of this committee is to advise and provide input to the governing board and district staff on the needs and services for English learners.
Parents or guardians of English learner students shall constitute the majority of membership. District staff members and interested members of the public are invited to attend.
