Vista del Valle Elementary School 550 Vista Drive Claremont, California 91711 (909) 398-0331 The wooded, twelve-acre rectangle that includes Wheeler Park and Vista del Valle Elementary School has been a Claremont community neighborhood anchor since 1953. Our current population consists of 332 Pre-school through Sixth Grade students representing the ethnic and cultural diversity that is Los Angeles County and much of the south of California. Vista del Valle Elementary's vision and mission have been influenced by our work with the nationally recognized research effort of self-examination, Voices from the Inside. From that work we learned that nothing was more important to our parents, students, staff and community than relationships (cultivating community and that family of humankind feeling), safety (physical, emotional and psychological), learning that is both joyful and rigorous. To that end, we have put science in the center of all that we do so we can integrate the key skills of reading, writing, computing, problem-solving and higher-level thinking within a content area that is important and intrinsically engaging.
