dress code

ress should be appropriate for normal school activities; it should reflect pride, and respect. Health and safety are guides to acceptable school attire. Garments should meet acceptable standards and be appropriate and in good repair. The administration retains the sole discretion to determine if the garment meets this standard. The purpose of these basic dress guidelines is not to infringe on any individual student's rights to freedom of expression, but rather to encourage students to "dress for success" and come to school properly prepared for participating in the educational process.

Students, while at school or any school-related activity, are not permitted to wear:

  • See-through, strapless, bare midriff or backless garments, cut-up clothing, bathing suits.
  • Undergarments may not show at ANY time on boys or girls. All clothing must completely cover a student's underwear. This means no sagging pants on boys and girls.
  • Clothing/jewelry that portrays suggestive, derogatory or insulting pictures or writings suggestive or can be construed to have a "double meaning.
  • Sunglasses are not to be worn in class.
  • Any article of clothing/jewelry that refers to any type of alcohol, drug or act which is illegal or hazardous to one's health.
  • No clothing or articles of clothing that denotes membership to a group or gang related activities, which may intimidate by fear or violence or provoke others to acts of violence will not be allowed on school grounds or at any school activity.
  • Shirts or other tops with buttons or zippers are to be worn buttoned or zipped so that chest or stomach areas will not be exposed.
  • Spaghetti strap blouses, halter-tops or tube tops.
  • Pajama Bottoms
  • Skirts and dresses must reach fingertip length or longer when arms are down.
  • Shorts at inappropriate length.
  • Hairnets and bandannas are not allowed.
  • Hats must be worn forward and straight.
  • No initial belt buckles.
  • No wallet chains or chains attached to clothing.
  • The waist size of pants must be within range appropriate to the student's actual waist measurement.

Footwear should be appropriate for normal activities and should have hard, comfortable sole. Shoes may have an open toe or open heel, however, the following footwear is not appropriate:

  • Flip-flops
  • Bedroom Slippers
  • High Platform Shoes

In case of questionable dress (not covered in the rules listed above), the site administrator will make the final decision. Appropriate action will be taken at that time. When necessary, a home contact will be made seeking parental cooperation and assistance. Continuous violations will result in detention, Saturday School, or suspension.
