 he community of Claremont is nestled in the foothills below the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California. Located approximately 35 miles east of Los Angeles, Claremont is well known for its tree lined streets and the Claremont Colleges. El Roble Intermediate School, centrally located on Mountain Avenue in Claremont, was built in segments beginning in 1956. El Roble Intermediate School serves all seventh and eighth grade students in the Claremont Unified School District. Enrollment has increased since 1984 from 809 to the current level of 1,009 students. Student enrollment projections indicate additional increases. Enrollment has a turn-over rat of approximately 17 percent annual.
El Roble serves approximately 850 families with approximately 18.75 percent of students receiving free/reduced lunches. Over 78 percent of our students go to household with two parents in the home and 22 percent to a single-parent household.
The minority population comprises 40 percent of the school. The student population is 6.10 percent limited English proficient and 26.07 percent Chapter I.
