WORLD RELIGIONS
and PHILOSOPHIES

THE GOLDEN RULE

Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
Buddhism

What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man.  That is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary.
Judaism

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Christianity

No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.
Islam

Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself.
Baha'i Faith

Many of the world's problems are due to misunderstandings and ignorance about another person's or group's beliefs.  Yet, as demonstrated above with the Golden Rule, there are many beliefs and hopes that different religions and philosophies hold in common.  The more we know about each other, the closer we will be to building a peaceful planet.  Start the process now by using the links below as a jumping off point to investigate religions and philosophies unfamiliar to you.

If you are working on a research paper, you may want to ask yourself several questions as you do your research:

1.  What is familiar to me?
2.  What is similar to what I believe and know?
3.  What is new and different from what I believe and know?
4.  What are the groups' activities, calendar, holidays, etc.?
5.  What do I want to know more about?

Remember to include published (and edited!) material in your research as well as internet resources.
