Orientation & Four Year Planning
If your student is currently enrolled in the district, you will be receiving an invitation to come to the orientation and four-year planning meeting for your incoming 9th grade student. The incoming 9th grade class was broken up alphabetically and assigned a session. Each session is the same, and you may choose to attend a different session without notifying the office or counselor. The invitation process was put in place to avoid 600 students and parents arriving on the same night. However, if you choose to attend a different session, odds are that someone from that session will choose a different session as well. Therefore, the sessions generally even out in the long run. Please keep in mind that the first 2 nights are the busiest nights because people are under the misconception that they will get priority in scheduling.
Schedules are not created until August. Therefore, the night you attend will have no influence on your student's priority level in being scheduled.
