Parent - Faculty Association
The objective of the CHS PFA is to "bring into closer relation the
family, school, and community, that they may cooperate to promote the
general welfare of the students." Any person in the community who is
interested in the purpose for which the CHS PFA is organized is
eligible for membership and becomes an active member upon payment of
dues.
The Claremont High School Parent-Faculty Association (CHS PFA) is
a California non-profit corporation.
The CHS PFA provides support to students, parents, staff and
administration in the following areas:
- Provides leadership through its officers
who are elected at the annual spring Open House.
- Communicates through monthly PFA
meetings and a bimonthly PFA newsletter, the WOLFCALL, which
is mailed to the home of every CHS student.
- Organizes parent booster groups for the purpose of support and
fund raising for the arts and sports. These booster groups operate
under CHS PFA Bylaws.
- Organizes and administers the individual class committees for
the purpose of fund raising for each year's Student-Parent
Graduation Night Party (a drug-free and alcohol-free
alternative and a very successful tradition at CHS). The class
committees also work with ASB officers in their individual fund
raising efforts, providing guidance and support.
- Organizes and administers the Teacher Wish List program,
whereby parents may contribute to individual teacher's classroom
needs.
- Promotes the health and safety of the students.
- Provides staff appreciation events (treats, luncheons,
etc.).
- Provides chaperones to school dances and other events as
requested.
- Provides (at a small fee) a Parent-Student Telephone
Directory.
- Promotes participation in the Parent Network, encouraging
parents to become proactive in keeping their children drug and
alcohol free.
- Organizes and administers a parent/community volunteer
network, supporting (but not limited to) the following:
- Office, Library, Career Center assistance
- Distribution of textbooks at beginning/ending of
semesters
- Registration information packet production and mailing
- Tutors and proctors for tests
- Student projects as directed by teachers
- Assistance to teachers as requeste
