Welcome to Claremont, California. This is the first page of the Claremont virtual tour which will take you on a journey through our little town. Claremont has a population of approximately 35,000 people at an elevation of 1,150 feet. We have over 140 acres of parks filled with trees to day dream under on a hot fall afternoon. Claremont is the kind of town where your life can move a quickly or as slowly as you'd like to run. The city was once part of the San Gabriel Mission which was established in 1887 and incorporated in 1907.
Claremont is in the continental United States of America in the state of California. It is located in the southern area with its closet major city being Los Angeles. At the foot of Mount Baldy between Pomona and Upland, Claremont is the last city in Los Angeles county, about one hour away from downtown LA and Disneyland. Claremont is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains.
By CAR: Claremont can be reached by either the 210 (Foothill Fwy to Foothill blvd.) or 10 freeways. By TRAIN: Claremont does have a small train station which is now a metro link stop with daily service. By PLANE: The closest airports are in Ontario and LAX in LA. There are shuttles from the Claremont Inn to LAX and for a price they will taxi you in or out of town.
The "typical" Claremonter compared to national and regional figures is shown to be more stable, have much greater earning capacity, and to be far better educated than the average.
