Unbeaten since start of season
The unbeaten Frosh softball team added another win to their
perfect ledger Friday (April 4), when they drilled Los Osos by a score of
10-0. Pitcher Samantha Olmos was supported by outstanding defense; Melinda
Pagani led the offense with a grand slam.
Wednesday,
the Frosh scored a dramatic 12-10 victory at Etiwanda. The highlight was a
game-winning home run by Ashley Gallegos in the top of the seventh with one
runner on. Gallegos beat the throw home by sliding head first between the
catcher’s legs.
Earlier
in the week, on Monday, Los Osos gave the Claremont Frosh a hard time, but
the Wolfpack overcame a weeklong break to win 2-1. With the score tied 1-1 in
the seventh inning, Vanessa Canales reached base, and subsequently stole second.
With two outs, Samantha Olmos hit a shot to right center for the game-winning
run.
The Claremont Frosh softball team is red hot to start the 2008 season. A 10-2 victory in the league opener at home March 17 vs. Alta Loma kept the Frosh undefeated after three games (1-0 in league).
The team highlights Monday were 10 hits, including three each by Lexxus Salgado (two singles, one double) and Tracy Tieu (two singles, one triple); and two hits by Samantha Olmos. In addition to her two singles, Olmos also was the winning pitcher and recorded six strikeouts.
Way to go Frosh!
