Service Above Self

The Interact Club is an organization focused on promoting active community service and fostering international understanding. Each club is sponsored by a nearby Rotary Club (We are sponsored by Rotary of Claremont - District 5300). Interact can be found on high school campuses all over the world. Membership is open to anyone interested, and we encourage everyone to join.

Interact is short for International Action. Our goals are to provide service to our community and to foster international understanding among students and the world community. Interact was founded in the November of 1962 at Melbourne High School in Florida, U.S.A. The first Interact outside of the U.S. was founded two months later in Tanjore, India. Today there are more than 100,000 Interactors in more than 4,500 Interact clubs in 86 countries around the world!

Each year we are required to carry out at least one community service project and one project to further international understanding. Some examples of the activities we do are the Adopt-A-Grandparent program, where we visit the Pilgrim Place medical facility and talk to the residents; the Great Ontario Paint-Out, where we drive down on a Saturday morning and paint over graffiti; and the CROP Hunger Walk, where we walk/run/cartwheel 10K to feed the hungry.

Interested? Well, if you are a student of CHS, feel free to come join us on Friday after school in Central Quad. New members are always welcome, the meetings are about fifteen to twenty minutes long. If you aren't a student here, then go find Interact at your school! If there isn't one, start one! Your school probably needs it, and founding an Interact club can't be bad for your college applications...

We look forward to a very productive year and we hope you join us, whereever you are. Thanks for stopping by!
