Basic Classroom AppleWorks

Learn how to save a document and put it where you can find it. Learn how to bring an image into a word processing document. Save an image from the Internet to the computer and import it into a word processing document. Make a simple database to keep track of student information. Create a simple bar graph in AppleWorks. Bring your questions for an open “How can I” question and answer session.

Tiger OS X Mac Operating System Basics

Learn the way around your Mac computer. Make folders, find things you've lost with Spotlight. Learn how to keep your computer updated. Answer the question “why has my printer stopped and why won’t it print anything?” Learn how to access the Dashboard and how you might use it. Simple maintenance procedures. Quick overview of iLife 06 (iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb, iTunes and GarageBand).

Microsoft Word Processing/Desktop Publishing

In this class you will learn how to use Microsoft Word as a desktop publishing tool. You will learn how to create a newsletter, class syllabus and assignment sheet. You will import graphics and customize them within your documents. Bring your classroom materials to directly apply your work in this class. Class will consist of 2 hours instruction and 1 hour open lab. Bring removable media such as a CD or USB Flash (Stick) Drive.

Learn how to create a slide show from using Blank Presentation. You will learn how to use slide transitions, custome animation, design templates, slide background and learn how to setup your show. We will also learn how to download pictures from the web and incorporate them into your slide show.

iMovie Lab

Record some video at home or in the classroom and bring your video camera, tape and a CD. Make your own iMovie with help when you need it. Learn shortcuts and tricks and create a short movie on video tape or a CD for your school and classroom.

This course will further develop your skills in PowerPoint. If you have used PowerPoint before, this will be a good starting point for you. Elementary School Software Review and LACOE Video Streaming Exploration

Preview software common to elementary schools: Storybook Weaver, KidPix, Oregon Trail, Zoombeanies, Comic Life and more. Also learn about video streaming available to you through LACOE. Hundreds of great classroom videos on every subject with curriculum guides and prontout included on the website. Sumner/Danbury has this service; other schools might like to learn more about it.

| Stipend Information |
|
All certificated and classified employees will receive a stipend of $50 for each 3 hour class or $100 for each 6 hour two part class. The stipend will be awarded upon completion of the class(es). Requirements for completion will include attendence at class and completed evaluation form provided by instructor.

Please note times vary and are listed by class description. Once registration is complete, the confirmation of your class/classes will be sent to you by email or phone or both. All classes are subject to change or cancellation if minimum class enrollment is not attained.
