Message From the Superintendent

September 2006

The first day of school brought the wonderful sounds of children and young adults back to our schools. It was a joy to be out at each of the schools to watch and listen as district staff welcomed your children back to their schools. I know for some new children and parents it was a potentially frightening day but the impressive staffs at each of our schools helped everyone (parents included!) adjust to being in school.

The Board of Education has adopted four specific and measurable goals for the 2006/07 school year and they can be found as a link on the CUSD website. These goals reflect the values and belief that have helped define the school as the center of our community. It will be up to all of us this year to translate those values and beliefs into the practices that govern the behavior of all members of the school community.

The beginning of a new school year brings with it a new community building process which is extremely important in our schools. It is the tie that binds students, teachers and parents in special ways. It lifts both teachers and students to higher levels of commitment and performance. This need for community is universal. I am hopeful that you will join us as we continue to build our learning communities here in Claremont throughout the 2006/07 school year and the years to come.

David Cash, Ed.D.
