A former mentor teacher states that this individual knows how to work with both students and adults and is highly respected by these groups.

A colleague expressed how conscientious, organized and dependable this person is on a daily basis.

Another of this teacher’s colleague’s states that this teacher challenges students to be the best they can be.

This person is committed to excellence in all endeavors. High standards are reflected in the quality of teaching, in the thoughtfulness of planning for students, and in the persistence of excellence.

He is avidly dedicated to helping make the academic and personal lives of people better.

His enthusiasm with environmental science has influenced many of his students to search out environmental science programs when applying for college.

He is one of the most popular teachers on the campus, and as an environmental practitioner is highly respected and revered by his students.

He was recently selected as the recipient of the 2006-07 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement and is the California State AP Environmental Science Teacher of the Year. The Siemens Foundation, established in 1998, honors AP science students who excel within the AP science and math courses, as well as the teachers who teach them.

It is with great pleasure that I present the Claremont Unified School District Spotlight on Excellence Award to John Lawrence!
