FLOOD
 

Warning of an impending flood is received at the school by phone or messenger from the District Emergency Operation Center. The predicted extent of the flood and the amount of time available before it arrives will determine the course of action to be taken. The principal may initiate any of the emergency actions considered necessary.

Potential source of flooding for the Claremont Unified School District is the San Antonio Dam and Thompson Creek Reservoir.
 

I.

San Antonio Dam
 

A.

Inundated Areas - will be determined by the three potential flood zones depending upon where the break in the dam occurs - could affect all of the City of Claremont.
 

B.

Institutions Affected - all schools and District Office within Claremont Unified School District.
 

C.

Evacuation
 

1.

Schools north of Foothill Boulevard will move west to White Avenue and south to Los Angeles County Fairgrounds.
 

2.

Schools south of Foothill Boulevard will travel to I-10 and west to Ganesha Avenue, north to Los Angeles County Fairgrounds.
 

3.

Priority order of movement of schools will be northeast to southwest - Chaparral first - Vista del Valle last.
 

II.

Thompson Creek Reservoir
 

A.

Inundated Area - North Claremont
 

B.

Institutions Affected - Condit, Sumner/Danbury, District Office, and Claremont Adult School.
 

C.

Evacuation - south using Sumner Avenue, Towne Avenue, and Mountain Avenue.
 

D.

Mass Care Center - Claremont High School, El Roble Intermediate School, and Mountain View Elementary School upon direction of the Emergency Operations Center.
 

INITIATE APPROPRIATE EMERGENCY ACTIONS AND EMERGENCY TEAMS LISTED UNDER EMERGENCY ORGANIZATION PLAN, APPENDIX C, AS DEEMED NECESSARY.
