FIRE
 

I.

Fire Within a School Building - take the following actions:
 

ACTION
 

RESPONSIBILITY

A.

Sound the school fire alarm. This will automatically implement action: LEAVE BUIDLING

B.

Assemble staff and students at a safe distance from the fire and away from fire-fighting equipment.
 

C.

Render first aid as necessary.

D.

Notify the Claremont Police and Fire Department - 911

E.

If it is possible to fight small fires without endangering life, do so.
 

All Staff Members

F.

Keep access roads open for emergency vehicles.
 

G.

Take roll - account for all pupils.
 

Teacher

H.

Notify the District Superintendent or other appropriate school officials.

I.

Notify utility companies of a break or suspected break in lines which might present an additional hazard.
 

Principal/Office Manager

J.

The principal will determine whether action "GO HOME" or any further action should be implemented.

K.

Students and staff should not return to the school until Fire Department officials declare the area safe.

L.

Assess need for psychological first aid/activate Crisis Team if necessary.
 

Principal/Director of Student Services

II.

Fire near the school - The principal shall determine which of the foregoing instructions are required.

Conduct a fire drill at least once each school month.

Teach pupils desired route and manner of evacuation.
