EXPLOSION
 

Explosions usually occur without warning. The following actions should be instituted at once:
 

ACTION
 

RESPONSIBILITY

A.

At sound of explosion give command: DROP.

B.

If the explosion occurs within the building or threatens the building, implement action: LEAVE BUILDING.

C.

Sound the school first alarm.

D.

Notify the Claremont Fire and Police Department - 911

E.

Notify utility companies of any damage or suspected damage.

F.

Move to an area of safety and maintain control of students.
 

All Staff Members

G.

Render first aid as necessary.
 

Principal/Teacher/

H.

If it is possible to fight small fires without endangering life, do so.

I.

Take roll _ account for all pupils.
 

Teachers

J.

Notify the District Superintendent.

K.

The principal will direct further action as required.

L.

Students and staff must not return to the school until Fire/Police Department officials declare the area safe.

Threat of Explosion (other than bomb threat)
 

A.

Sound the school fire alarm to implement action: LEAVE BUILDING
 

B.

Follow instructions given for actual explosions.
 

C.

Assess need for psychological first aid/activate Crisis Team if needed.
