Located near the Emergency Assembly Area (EAA) Responsibilities of principal:

Emergency teacher list and map showing location of each teacher station at EAA. Two-way radio, bull-horn, and battery-operated radio.

Accounts for the presence of all students and staff.

2.

Implements and coordinates the emergency operations.

3.

Controls internal and external communication.

4.

Prepares reports for Superintendent.


B.

First Aid Team

Administers first aid and records information on extent of injuries and first aid administered. Determines need for medical assistance. Ensures that the following are at the EAA:

Stretchers, blankets, wheelchairs, and first aid supplies.

Search & Rescue Team

Proceeds in orderly and pre-established sweep pattern, checking each classroom, storage room, auditorium, etc. visually, vocally, and physically. Reports the location of all injured students and to First Aid Team.

Locks all external gates, doors, and secures school. Team member stationed at main gate to refer parents. Routes fire and rescue, ambulance, and police to area of need.

Fire Team

Confirms existence and location of fire, notifies main office, rescues students using appropriate fire control equipment and secures area.

Checks utilities and takes appropriate action to minimize damage to school site. Determines resources that are available for immediate school use: water, food, power, radio, telephone, and sanitary condition. Surveys and reports to EOC the extent of damage to school site.

CO2 fire extinguisher, water-type fire extinguishers, gloves, blankets, etc.

Emergency Assembly Area Team (EAA)

Ensures that all gates and entrances are open to the EAA. Assists in the evacuation of classes to their specific station at the EAA.

Keys to EAA, bull-horns, hand held radios, map showing location of each teacher station at EAA.


G.

First Aid Team

All Classroom Teachers

Responsibilities of individual teacher:

Necessary roll call material and emergency attendance records.

1.

Ascertain the extent of injuries and capabilities for class evacuation.

2.

Determines the need of assistance for neighboring teachers (buddy system).

3.

Evacuates classroom using predetermined routes to specific station at EAA.

4.

Take roll and reports class status to EOC.

5.

Supervises and reassures students throughout the duration of the emergency.

Immediately begins the process of reuniting students with their parents or guardians by referring to:

Map of EAA stations, program cards, class rosters, computer print-outs, record keeping material

Dispatches student leaders to secure students and escort them to Reunion Gate.
Reunion Gate:
Confirms that students recognize the requesting individuals and feel secure in their custody. Requires that requesting individuals sign for the students. Ensures that all records are kept on students leaving campus.

Leadership Students Support Team

1. Upper grade student leaders (elementary)
2. Student government and service groups (secondary)

Highly responsible students can possibly assist as messengers:

1.

Attendance procedures at EAA

2.

Reunite students with parents at Parent Reunion Gate.

3.

Assists first aid team at emergency medical station.

4.

Assists principal at EOC.

5.

In any location where principal feels their services are appropriate
