San Antonio High School

Achievement Snapshot #1
T
he program at San Antonio High School provides an individualized, alternative educational program. the typical student is behind in credits and often will experience issues not conducive to academic success. Problematic family concerns, problems with the legal system, homelessness, and financial concerns are just a few such issues that dominate their lives.

Susan represents just one such student. She transferred to SAHS in the summer of her sophomore year, behind in credits and with problematic family concerns. Susan struggled for the first year at SAHS, her attendance kept her from earning adequate credits. Since then, Susan has connected with the staff at SAHS and has been able to achieve academic success and gain self-confidence through the nurturing atmosphere here at SAHS. Susan’s classroom performance has improved significantly as is indicated by the increase in credits earned.

Susan began her school year like many SAHS students, finding it difficult to participate in school activities. However, with guidance of staff, she not only began participating in school activities, but by the second semester Susan was a positive school leader who both staff and students praised for her leadership abilities.end

Achievement Snapshot #2
S
an Antonio High School provides a program that enables students to progress at a pace that provides maximum achievement. SAHS provides many opportunities to gain life and job skills by becoming involved in training programs like ROP and Service Learning, which can assist students in getting their lives back on track. Many of our students enter the program struggling with substance abuse issues as well as severe truancy problems.

Mike came to SAHS at the end of his junior year. Getting to school in the morning was not a high priority in the morning nor was obtaining his diploma. However, as Mike became involved in the work experience program and later in the ROP program, he gained a sense of purpose. Within a year, Mike not only had gained enough credit for his graduation, but he also went on to gain promising recognition from the training programs in which he participated. We are confident that Mike will continue to gain the self-confidence and skills necessary to be successful in the business world.end
