Achievement Snapshots
S
tudents at Chaparral Elementary School who scored below the 35th percentile have been working to improve their overall progress academically and on the yearly State Testing Program. Following are two achievement snapshots.

Snapshot #1
Hye-Ri is a sixth grade student who has improved every year since she arrived at Chaparral. Within the last several years, she has received specific assistance from many staff members in order to help her succeed. She benefited greatly from in-class peer tutoring as well as specific time with instructional assistants including the English Language Development (ELD) staff since she is an English Learner. Moreover, staff used different computer programs to help her succeed. Her fluency and comprehension skills have improved tremendously over the years! Furthermore, she has also been placed in classes with certified Cross-Culture Language and Academic Development (CLAD) teachers, and ELD staff has worked with the parents in order to help Hye-Ri at home. She has been monitored, and her work has improved each year. This past year, her reading score improved by 79 percentile points, language by 70 percentile points, and mathematics by 33 percentile points. Hye-Ri has grown in her confidence and continues to express herself quite well.end

Snapshot #2
Margaret, a fifth grade student, has excelled within the last two years by improving her Stanford-9 scores and her overall academic progress. She has received specific assistance from many staff in order to help her succeed. Furthermore, she received English as a Second Language instruction, and her English fluency has steadily increased. She has also been placed in classes with certified CLAD teachers, and ELD staff has worked with the parents in order to help Margaret at home. She has been monitored, and her work has improved each year. This past year, her reading score improved by 31 percentile points and her language score by 6 percentile points. Margaret truly believes that she will do well in all that she attempts!end
