Membership and Duties

Public Board meetings of the Claremont Unified School District Board of Education are held the first and third Monday of each month. The regular public session begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Richard S. Kirkendall Education Center.

The Board invites and encourages District residents to attend meetings of the Board of Education. By doing so, parents, guardians and other residents have the opportunity to better understand the efforts put into the education of their children.

The Board of Education is composed of five elected members and one appointed student non-voting member. The Board is the policy-making body and the official representative of the people for kindergarten through twelfth grade public education in Claremont. Elected Board members serve four year terms and the student member serves a one-year term. They must be qualified electors residing within the boundaries of the school district. Elections are held biennially. Three Board members are elected one year. Two years later, two other Board members are elected. The student member is appointed by the Board each year.
