Mary Caenepeel, Vice President

Mary Caenepeel, elected to the Claremont Unified School District Board of Education in 2005, holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Prior to her election to the Board of Education, she was involved in curriculum development for 12 years at Sumner/Danbury Elementary School and was a member of the 2004 Claremont Unified School District Budget Advisory Committee.

Her many school and community activities include serving on the boards of EdNet (now Claremont Educational Foundation), Claremont After School Programs (CLASP), Sumner/Danbury Elementary School PFA and School Site Council, PFA Central Council, and El Roble Band Boosters. She has served as a CHS Band, and Swim & Dive Team Booster, CHS Curriculum Committee member, and was a volunteer and board member for the Claremont and Pomona Valley Meals on Wheels for more than 10 years and the Leadership Team Marriage Preparation of the Los Angeles Archdiocese for 17 years. Mrs. Caenepeel and her husband Chris, chair, Chemical and Materials Engineering at Cal Poly, Pomona, have lived in Claremont since 1976. They are the parents of four children, all of whom graduated from Claremont public schools.
